Please be familiar with the following terms:
Costume: Clothes a character wears on stage. Costume also includes minor props the character should carry, eg. newspaper/glasses/briefcase.
The Set: This refers to anything on stage that tells the audience where the scene is set, eg. pictures on the wall, furniture, umbrella, coat stand etc.
Sound Effects: Used to enhance the audience's experience of the scene, make it more realistic eg. music, gun shots, thunder etc.
Lighting has the same effect as sound but it is also used to create an atmosphere and to draw the audience to a particular scene.
Facial Expressions: Convey emotion, communicate the character's thoughts and feeling and help develop to the story. Here are some we did in class:
