Christmas Shoe-Box Appeal
Guys, it's that time of year again, time to fill our shoeboxes with love and gifts!!
LEAFLETS AVAILABLE FROM EITHER MYSELF OR MRS KILLORAN ON FRIDAY!!!!!
We have had a super response from students today - everyone is so eager to bring a little bit of hope and a few smiles to these forgotton children's faces. Some TY students are making a few shoeboxes. As I said earlier, it may be a feel good factor for us but we actually don't realise the difference we are making.

They are forgotten children – victims of war, disease or poverty. Children living on the edge, in some of the poorest countries in the world. Life is bleak, with little to look forward to – just hoping to have some food on the table today. Hoping they’ll be safe tonight, and alive tomorrow. And Christmas is just another ordinary day - nothing special, no Christmas tree, no presents. But your shoebox will bring a little hope, a lot of laughter and smiles and a practical expression of God’s love at Christmas time, for children who have very little.
No, a shoebox won’t change everything, but it will do far more than we could ever imagine, by bringing Christmas to children who have never experienced anything like it before ! And if a local leader requests it, as an optional extra, we also give a Christmas card – explaining where their box came from, about Ireland and the significance of the Christmas message.
HOW DOES IT WORK ?
Simply fill a shoebox with a range of simple Christmas gifts, and drop it off at your local drop off point before November 12th, and TeamHope will do the rest !
They will also give a Christmas card - explaining where their box came from, a little about Ireland and the significance of the Christmas story.
YOUR SHOEBOX CAN TURN JUST ANOTHER DAY IN A CHILD’S LIFE INTO SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL, A DAY THAT THEY WILL REMEMBER FOR YEARS TO COME

These super talented students addressed many audiences on prevalent issues in today's society ranging from peer pressure, alcohol abuse, suicide and much more. The competition began in September 2011 and finished in March 2012. The final was held in the Edmund Burke Theatre, Trinity College, Dublin last March.
They will be accompanied by myself and other members of Mental Health Ireland.
There are lots of activites planned for their well-deserved trip - visit to the European Parliment, the chocolate factory, a day trip to Bruges where the In Bruge was filmed and lots more.
Don't worry, we will take lots of pictures and maybe even bring back a few chocolates......
