First Year Poet-Tree
' Show Racism the Red Card' - Aviva Stadium
On April 10th, students of Lough Allen College were amongst the 500 young people who took part in the Show Racism the Red Card Awards Exhibition. Many of our students wrote poetry, their own songs, created t-shirts and posters all trying to combat racism. They got to meet minister Alan Shatter and many sports stars (Leinster and Ireland scrum-half Eoin Reddan; former Ireland International Kevin Kilbane; Dublin GAA legends Jason Sherlock, Phil Mc Mahon and Cliodhna O’Connor; Bosnian-born women’s basketball SuperLeague star Indira Kaljo; and Moldovan-born RTÉ children’s TV presenter Diana Bunici) on the day.
This slideshow demonstrates some of the amazing work presents by LAC students.
Transition Year Poetry Scrapbooks
This TY module commenced with a workshop from Poet Steve Murray. Following this one day workshop, TY's commenced a three week module where we looked at poetry in all its shapes and form. Their task was to produce original creative work, present it in a visually engaging style and allow their imaginations run wild.
